Background

Saint-Malo is an ancient Roman city that later became a pirate haven for the French corsairs. It is located in Brittany on the Channel coast and was used early in the Privateering Era to harass shipping in the lane. The city has a long history of piracy and also spawned some famous explorers such as Jacques Cartier.
